Phenolic Foam (PF) Class “O” Fire Rated, CFC & HCFC Free Insulation:
Phenolic Foam is a rigid cellular foam insulation material with a substantially closed cell structure, whose polymer structure is made primarily from poly-condensation of phenol, its homologues and/or derivatives with aldehydes and ketones. Phenolic foam has various distinct properties that make it better than conventional insulation materials. Lower K Value (K Value = 0.018W/mk) – that means exceptionally low thermal conductivity. Main application: Phenolic Foam are used for the application of Chilled Water Pipe and Duct Insulation.
- Chilled Water Pipe Insulation
- Duct Insulation
- Cold Insulation & Equipment / Vessel / Tank Insulation
- Roof, Wall & Soft fit Insulation
- High Density Thermal Support Inserts
Polyisocyanurate (PIR) CFC Free Rigid Closed Cell Insulation / Polyurethane (PUR) CFC Free Rigid Closed Cell Insulation:
Polyurethane/ Polyisocyanurate foam can be used in many different applications in the process plant and air-conditioning industries. Standard foam meets the requirements of the German specification DIN 4102, Class B3. If a higher performance level is required, we can supply foam meeting DIN 4012, Class B2. Where higher temperatures and/or better fire performance is required, we recommend the use of GCT- Polyisocyanurate insulations.
Our Polyisocyanurate meets the requirement of BS 476; part 7, Class 1 and ASTM E-84.
MTB can supply rigid Polyurethane/Polyisocyanurate foam in a wide range of densities for different applications.
- Density 35 Kg/m3 to 65 Kg/m3 for pipe, slab, vessel, tank insulations.
- 2High density 80 Kg/m3 to 300 Kg/m3.
Slabs/Boards, and Pre-formed pipe sections available as segments for larger sizes, pipe fittings, include elbows, tees, valve covers, etc. Products may be unfaced or faced with reinforced aluminum foil (Class ‘1’) or (Class ‘O’).
Usage of PIR/PUR:
- Chilled Water Pipe Insulation
- Duct Insulation
- Cold Insulation & Equipment / Vessel / Tank Insulation
- Roof, Wall & Soft fit Insulation
- High Density Thermal Support Inserts
- PIR Foam Blocks-Various Densities / PUR Foam Blocks-Various Densities
ROCKWOOL INSULATION:
Rock Wool slabs conforming to ASTM C-612 and equivalent BS 3958 Part 5 and BS EN 13162 are designed for the thermal and acoustic insulation of flat or slightly curved surfaces operating at both high and low temperatures. These slabs are produced from long, non-combustible resin-bonded fibers. They are easy to cut, fit, and handle. Rock Wool slabs are ideally suited to insulate all parts of existing and new buildings including offices, homes, retail, healthcare, educational and commercial premises. Designed for a wide range of applications, at both high and low service temperatures, and can be used on flat or slightly curved surfaces for thermal and acoustic insulation. They are suitable for thermal insulation for cavity walls, curtain walls, sandwich panels, and a variety of other applications. High-density slabs are suitable for applications where high compressive strength is required and where the insulation is subjected to mechanical loads and vibration.

Calcium Silicate
Description: Calcium silicate (CalSil) is used to insulate high-temperature pipes and equipment and for fire endurance applications. It is manufactured and sold in three different forms: preformed block, preformed pipe, and board. Today’s calcium silicate manufactured in North America is noted for its high compressive strength, corrosion-inhibiting properties, and high-temperature structural integrity. It can withstand continuous temperatures up to either 1,200°F (Type I, for pipe and block) or 1,700°F (Type II, fire endurance boards).
Common Applications
Calcium silicate insulation is typically applied on high-temperature (greater than 250°F) pipe and equipment in industrial facilities, such as chemical plants, refineries, and steam electric power plants. Since it is a rigid material that has a relatively flat thermal conductivity curve, extremely high compressive strength, high flexural strength, a Class A rating for Flame Spread/Smoke Developed, and is noncombustible (ASTM E136), it is widely used in high-temperature, industrial applications subject to physical abuse.
Due to its high compressive strength (greater than 100 psi), high flexural strength (greater than 50 psi), and resistance to damage from tumbling, plus its ability to maintain those properties over time up to its rated 1,200°F, calcium silicate can withstand considerable physical abuse without loss of insulating efficiency. In addition, calcium silicate insulation can withstand vibration induced by high-temperature steam flow around internal pipe obstructions, such as valve internals, measuring devices, and flow restriction orifices.

Inspection Plugs
Inspection of Insulation and vessels on a regular period is essential to prolong lifetime of the equipment/system. Newly installed insulation always contain a certain content of water and often the metal jacket is damaged during maintenance job, disrupting the water-seal of the jacketing. Cutting an opening in the jacketing and sealing again with tape is not a durable solution and can cause many problems. The best way to inspect for corrosion under insulation in a non-destructive way is to install Vessel Inspection Plugs. It also provides possibility for electronically measuring the thickness of pipe/equipment/vessel walls. Inspection Plugs are available in different sizes:
- Size: 1.5”, 3” and 5” (other sizes available upon request).
- Plug Material Std MTL 40.
- Durometer Silicon Rubber.
- Range: -60 Deg C to +260 Deg C.
- Colour: Black, Red (other colours available upon request).
- Eyelet Material: Aluminium (5000 Series) and Stainless Steel (304).
